An example of successful reconstruction in compliance with seismic, aesthetic and architectural constraints.
The renovation project of Palazzo Castellani, a historic building located at the entrance of the ancient village of Venzone (UD), represents an important example of preserving and protecting Italian historical and cultural heritage. The reconstruction of the building, which had been completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1976, restored its original grandeur.
Palazzo Castellani is subject to the monumental restriction of the Regional Supervision for Cultural Heritage and Activities which guides the reconstruction of buildings with absolute respect for existing structures.
The choice of tiles required special attention. It was necessary to take into account on one hand the aesthetic needs of strict compliance with the Italian tradition in terms of shape and color and on the other hand the need for maximum stability due to the strong seismicity of the area.
That is why the construction of the roof was entrusted to WIERER (BMI Italia) with the Coppo del Borgo tile. Coppo del Borgo has an innovative shape that aesthetically resembles the traditional roman tile but is easy to install with 7.5 pieces per meter. It is extremely stable and durable and comes with a 50-year warranty.
