The history of the Tenuta Mazzolino winery in Oltrepò Pavese between Milan and Genoa is rich in tradition and entrepreneurial courage. Founded in the late 19th century as a farm serving the local community it has evolved into a popular wine tourism destination, a great place to taste good wine and enjoy the beautiful Italian countryside.

Over the years the roof of the old building showed significant damage that contributed to the deterioration of the rest of the building and this made renovation imperative.

For the new roof the owners chose the WIERER Coppo del Borgo Roccantica Fiammato roof tiles, which were considered ideal as they perfectly integrated into the existing architecture and the natural environment and created a stable, durable and guaranteed roof.

The Coppo del Borgo Roccantica Fiammato roof tile is designed to resemble the old traditional tile, the so called Roman Coppo or choletri due to the similar design of the curve and thanks to a design trick in the recess of the curve that creates a shadow effect like the one seen on old traditional roofs. The shape together with the aged colourings create a tile that is modern in technology but thoroughly convincing as old.

Its installation is a piece of cake for the installers since it requires only 7,5 pieces per square metre, compared to the 30 pieces per square meter that the old Roman coppo tiles need, while it also has side interlocking for improved tightness and strength.

Coppo del Borgo comes with a 50-year warranty for watertightness, resistance to freezing and thawing and resistance to breaking and bending loads. Like all BMI Wierer tiles, it has all the necessary accessories for optimal roof operation: ventilation tiles, snow tiles, ridge tiles and more.
